The mobility financing specialist introduces the second opinion for entrepreneurs.
De Mobiliteit Financier (DMF) specializes in financial leasing for self-employed and SME entrepreneurs. Based on years of experience with mobility, underwriting, and financing, DMF assesses applications itself and looks at beyond just annual figures, automated scores and standard acceptance models.
With the second opinion, DMF offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to have a previously rejected application for mobility financing reassessed independently.
A rejection doesn't always tell the whole story.
Digitization has made financing applications faster and more efficient. Increasingly, an automated acceptance model determines within a few minutes whether or not an entrepreneur qualifies for financing.
That works well for applications that fall precisely within all the frameworks. However, entrepreneurs do not always fit into a standard model. A start-up does not yet have extensive annual figures. An entrepreneur may have gone through a difficult period, while the company is now healthy again. Also a BKR registration may contain relevant information, but does not automatically tell the full and current story.
DMF therefore also wants to look at the entrepreneur behind the application.

No automatic approval
The second opinion is explicitly not a guarantee of funding, nor is it a way to simply disregard a previous rejection. DMF conducts a new, independent assessment.
Can the entrepreneur responsibly bear the monthly costs? How is the company developing? Is the vehicle necessary to generate revenue? Is the requested vehicle suitable for the business? And does the picture presented by the available data still align with the current situation?
Sometimes it turns out that an application can still be responsibly accepted. In other cases, a different vehicle, lower financing, or an additional personal contribution may offer a suitable solution. However, the conclusion may also remain that financing is not advisable.
No is also an answer — but only after a fair assessment.

Based on 25 years of practical experience
DMF's working method was not devised behind a desk. Over the past 25 years, the people behind the organization have taken a close look at entrepreneurs and their mobility needs in more than 100,000 applications.
That practical experience shows that an atypical file does not automatically mean that someone poses an unacceptable credit risk. Sometimes additional information is needed to understand what is really going on. It is precisely the conversation and the context that can make the difference between merely looking at a file and actually assessing an entrepreneur.
This experience forms the basis of the second opinion from DMF.

BKR is valuable, but not the whole story.
BKR plays an important role by providing insight into existing credits and the payment behavior of consumers. DMF takes this information seriously. A second opinion is therefore not intended to circumvent a registration or to ignore payment problems.
A BKR registration is part of the complete file. In addition, DMF considers the cause, current events, and the circumstances of the entrepreneur. The difference lies not in ignoring information, but in adding context.

Non-bank financing is growing
De Nederlandsche Bank also notes that non-bank financiers are playing an increasingly larger role in the financing of SMEs. Especially for smaller financings, speed, flexibility, and a different assessment method can be of added value.
DMF wants to fulfill that position responsibly. Not by being more lenient with risk, but by looking more broadly and better.
After all, mobility is not a luxury for many self-employed professionals and SME entrepreneurs. Without a company car or personal vehicle, they cannot visit their clients, carry out assignments, and sometimes cannot continue their business.

First the entrepreneur, then the model
Technology and data remain important. They help DMF to work quickly, carefully, and efficiently. But ultimately, a funding decision must also remain explainable.
That is what De Mobiliteit Financier's second opinion stands for: looking beyond the initial outcome, without losing sight of the risks.
Because an entrepreneur is more than a score.
